Program

The Museum of Photography will open in 2025. On the museum night dedicated to the books of the 20th century, you can see unique exhibits - the first Estonian-language photography textbooks, Andres Kuus' "A Short Tutorial on Day Photography" (1898) and Heinrich Tiidermann's "A Complete Tutorial on Day Photography" (1899).

Estonia's first photographic textbooks give a fascinating insight into the 19th century. and explore the links between photography and the printed word in Estonian cultural history. How were the textbooks used, what knowledge did they impart and how did they influence photography enthusiasts at the time?

In addition, the main exhibition of the year's theme, "Gender and Story", and the museum's permanent exhibition, which presents a "composite portrait" of an Estonian photographer - what the Estonian photographer and his camera were and are like. Historic photographic laboratory equipment and various historic cameras will be on display, giving an insight into the photographer's working process through the ages.
