Program

The Children's Literature Centre invites you to the book market on Museum Night. Where else could you be when it's the theme year of the 500th Estonian Book! Our house is open from 18-23, with a library and lending service. Entrance to the Museum Night is 1 euro, children under 3 years free of charge.

For the adventurous, a treasure hunt awaits, where children can test their mettle with a guessing game.

At 18.30, we welcome children aged 5-7 to the Treasury for Bible Study.

From 18-22, our Bookmasters will offer one-to-one consultations to anyone with a major reading problem. You can find them in the Valter Gallery. The book guides will give reading suggestions. From parents of toddlers doing their first reading, to serious fantasy fans, to grandparents who want to get their children hooked on books, there's a fun solution to every problem!

From 18-21 you can do arts and crafts in the second floor loggia.

From 18-20, we will play letter games in the balcony hall to learn about letters. In addition, we will look back at important moments in the 500-year history of the Estonian book on the timeline, look at and read the book "The Joy of Estonian Children" from 1865 and study other landmark works from this long period to put ourselves in the shoes of a schoolchild from the beginning of the last century. We'll also do lots more.

At 20:00, the well-known songwriter Piret Laikre and her two talented daughters invite everyone to sing, dance and dance merrily. There will also be lots of fun for fans of Laikre's children's channel!

At 21.30, singer-songwriter Hedvig Hanson will present a special programme at the Children's Literature Centre. She will sing songs with her own music, the lyrics of which are children's poems written by Estonian poets. Songs written by her mother Novella Hanson, who was her singing teacher, will also be performed, with witty lyrics by Ott Arder, Heiki Vilep, Peep Ilmet, Wimberg and others. You can also try your hand at making music together and have a wordplay and thought-provoking conversation with one of the performers!

At 22.30, the lights go out in the centre's attic and the big night reading begins. The night will be filled with the terrible tales of the Estonian people.
