Program

We are open on Museum Night from 18.00-23.00.

At the University of Tartu Botanical Garden, you can admire 10,000 different plant species and varieties from all the world's climates! The alpine meadows are home to a variety of conifers, shrubs and smaller trees that add exciting shapes to the valley slopes. In the medicinal herb garden you can learn about many of the plants used in Estonian folk medicine and their medicinal properties, as well as local herbs.

Did you know that the University of Tartu Botanical Garden is home to a needle that Lennart Meri, as the leader of Estonia's first expedition of young scientists, brought to Estonia from Kamchatka in 1960? The plant can be seen behind the botanical garden's greenhouse in the East Asia Department.

At 21:00 there will be a nature reading evening with Doris Kareva. Margus Kasterpalu will be in conversation with the poetess about the Estonian forest poetry anthology "The forests singing in our hearts".
