In addition, the following will take place at the museum:
19:00 and 20:00
Creative workshop “Garage Collage” in the “Garage. Гараж. Garage” exhibition
What sounds are associated with a garage? A car engine, radio, or tools clanging? Or something entirely different? Garage sounds, like garages themselves, are highly eclectic. Join this workshop to create your own mini garage collage using various visual elements and imagine how it would sound.
During the workshop, you’ll learn simple collage techniques to reflect on what a garage is and what might be found there. Each participant will then craft their own collage-garage.
At 19:00, the workshop is led by the exhibition’s curator and artist Aleksandra Ianchenko—in Russian.
At 20:00, it’s led by visitor guide Karoli Loo—in Estonian.
NB! Children under 7 should participate with a parent.
21:00
Guitar concert “Garage and Music” in the “Garage. Гараж. Garage” exhibition
Music has been created in all sorts of spaces throughout history, and many bands started in garages. In the 1960s, this gave rise to garage rock – a genre marked by simple lyrics, aggressive vocals, gritty electric guitar tones, and effect pedals. Aivo Akseli Simmo, who formed a band in a garage, shares his take on garage vibes via electric guitar.
22:00–23:00
Hour of Silence
How does silence sound?
At the end of an evening saturated with sounds and as a counterpoint to the Eurovision echoing across the city, Tallinn City Museum branches will turn off all sound installations during the final hour of Museum Night. This allows visitors to listen to the natural sounds of the historic buildings.
We also invite visitors to turn off their devices, speak more quietly, and be considerate of those sensitive to noise.
