Peipsimaa - it's different nationalities and cultures, picturesque seaside villages, sacred shrines, iconic landscapes, samovars, onions, cucumbers and rutabagas, a lake, majestic lighthouses, magnificent manor houses, fascinating museums and an ancient fairground culture.
Peipsimaa Museum brings it all together. You can learn about the life of the Old Believers, church and kitchen culture, icon painting and life on Lake Peipsi in the adjacent house. A special exhibition is dedicated to Pimen Sofronov, a world-famous icon painter from the village.
The museum also has a room for workshops (making Ivan Chai, cooking sugar).
You can buy souvenirs and handicrafts related to the culture and nature of the Peipsi, Ivan Chai and a variety of delicious local sweets.
On Museum Night, we offer visitors inspiration and the chance to get involved in. in a workshop on reading old books in Church Slavonic.
