The Narva Art Residence is located in the Kreenholm settlement on Joala Road. From the city centre, you have to come along Pushkin Street to the railway station, walk over the metal bridge and walk straight for another 10 minutes. On the right hand side you will find the Art Residence building, the Kreenholm Director’s Villa. Stairs lead up to the building, there are only ordinary bathrooms.
Program
This year, Narva Art Residency NART will open its gallery for the first time as part of the Night of Museums, and together with Narva mediaLAB they are invited to take part in a cosy programme. The doors of the art residence will be open from 13:00 to 23:00 on Museum Night. The exhibition "City in the city. The story of Kreenholm", featuring models by Fyodor Shantsyn. Entrance and events are free!

The programme starts and ends with accommodation - the first is in Estonian, the second in Russian. The tour will cover the 130-year history of Kreenholm's director's villa, as well as the workings of the cultural platform in the Estonian-Russian border town, which hosts both local and foreign artists. Historical film footage will also be screened at the retro cinema.

The handbook describes different art and activism techniques to encourage young people to express themselves on social and political issues. opinion. The Narva mediaLAB project was organised by femLENSwhich promotes documentary photography and media literacy, engages communities through visual storytelling and educational projects.
At 18.30, at the invitation of Narva mediaLAB, the event will be joined by Finnish curator duo Anna Jensen and Eliisa Suvanto, who will conduct a workshop on how to organise artistic interventions. Books and flyers can also be used as tools for interventions! The materials for the workshop will be available on site, and you can participate individually or in small groups. People of different ages and language backgrounds are welcome. The activity lasts for a few minutes, but can be continued independently.
Anna Jensen and Eliisa Suvanto are Finnish contemporary art curators and artists whose work focuses on site-specific exhibitions, social structures and accessibility. They are currently in residency at NART with the support of the Finnish Cultural Foundation.
