The house museum of the two great Saarlanders, the outstanding linguist Johannes Aavik (1880 - 1973) and the beloved music pedagogue Joosep Aavik (1899 - 1989), in the heart of Kuressaare, is open to the public.

Kristiina Maripuu graduated in Estonian and Finno-Ugric Linguistics from the University of Tartu. Tiina Laansalu is Head of the Department of Linguistic History, Dialects and Finno-Ugric Languages at the Estonian Language Institute. In 2020, he defended his PhD thesis on place names. Tiina Laansalu is also the deputy chair of the Emakeele Selts and a member of national nomenclature committees (place-name council, personal name committee).

Fred Puss is a senior lexicographer at the Institute of the Estonian Language, a doctoral student at the University of Tartu and the director of the Estonian Centre for Personal History. He has researched Estonian genealogy, place names, personal names and place names. Fred Puss is an honorary member of the Estonian Genealogy Society and a historian-consultant for the ETV series "Your New Relative".

Both Tiina Laansalu and Fred Puss are among the authors of the "Estonian Place Names Book" and the "Estonian Family Names Book". Together with the collective, they were awarded the Ministry of Education and Research's "Language Achievement of the Year 2016" prize for their local name book. The "Estonian Family Name Book" is currently in preparation.
