Pikk 70, Tallinn

Accessibility information:
The museum is located at 70 Pikk Street, at the northern or seaward end of the street, in the Great Harbour Gate complex and its associated turret, the Paks Margareeta.
The nearest public transport stop is Linnahall, where tram number 1 and 2 stop.Coming from the Linnahall tram stop, you pass through a sparse green area and cross a busy road. The tram stop is about 120 metres from the entrance to the museum building. There are sidewalks on both sides of the long street, with the paved pavement between them. The main entrance is on the left of the street, approaching from Town Hall Square on the right. Coming from the Town Hall Square, both sides of Pika Street are lined with beautiful old buildings, mostly connected on either side.
The main entrance is a glass shuttered door opening onto Pikale Street.
Wheelchair access to the museum is through a brown wooden door, about 10 metres to the left when facing the main entrance. It is open during museum opening hours. When you enter the door, about a metre further on, there is a glass door that automatically opens outwards to the left. On entering, you will immediately come to a ramp. Go straight for about 1.5 metres, then the ramp turns right and takes you down to the first floor – the atrium, where the reception area is located.
Nearly 90 percent of the museum is wheelchair accessible. There is no access to the gated rooms above Pika Street, which have narrow medieval walkways. The building is the only tower in the Old Town with a lift. The lift has a voice announcement of the floor numbers. For the visually impaired visitor, there are guides from the lift to the tactile floor plans, labels in Braille, tactile models of ships, audio stories and a narrated audio tour through the exhibition. A fixed induction sound amplification system is available for use at the cash desk and during the tours, and video stories have sign language interpretation. A number of hands-on facilities are available to help visitors with intellectual disabilities to understand complex maritime phenomena.
Parking rules in Tallinn Old Town apply at the museum. There is no separate museum parking or parking spaces. Visits to the museum are free of charge for people with special needs, as well as for accompanying persons. An audio tour with a translator costs two euros.
