1. MY FREE COUNTRY

The exhibition “My Free Country” was chosen as the best permanent exhibition in the Estonian Museums Annual Awards 2018.

The exhibition takes the visitor on a journey through one hundred years – from the birth of the Republic of Estonia to the present day. The most important events and the choices made are revealed through memorabilia, objects, film footage and the moods prevailing in the exhibition rooms.

2. YOU HAVE A LEGACY!

The exhibition introduces the history of heritage conservation and Estonia’s multi-layered cultural heritage. We invite you to reflect on the heritage conservation decisions made over time and to discuss the principles and practice of heritage conservation. The exhibition is dedicated to the centenary of the adoption of the first Estonian Heritage Protection Act.

The choices and decisions are presented through 14 heritage sites.

3. OUTDOOR EXHIBITION OF SOVIET-ERA MONUMENTS

As a repository of Estonian political history, the History Museum has been collecting demolished monuments for a couple of decades. Today, Maarjamäe has the largest collection of Soviet-era monumental sculptures in Estonia.

By car: You can park your car under the Maarjamäe castle staircase on Pirita road.

For cyclists: Bicycles can be left in the bicycle parking on the square inside the castle.
