Accessibility information:
Wheelchair access to the main museum building is via a ramp. The ground floor of the main building is wheelchair-accessible; unfortunately, the second floor is not wheelchair-accessible. The restoration of old books and a talk with Indrek Jääts will take place on the ground floor of the main building. Wheelchair access is also available to the museum’s community centre, where part of the exhibition of skirts and aprons is on display.
Program
Throughout the evening, you can visit the ERM Heimtal Museum, where you will be able to browse an exhibition of old books from the museum's collections, specially created for Museum Night. There will be a book exchange where you can bring books you have already read and are willing to pass on to others, and where you can pick up exciting books brought by others. Children can take part in a joint book-writing project and play in the museum's playroom.
18.00-20.00 Silli Peedosk, conservator of the Estonian National Museum, will talk and show how old books are restored.
20.00-21.30 talk with Indrek Jääts, Senior Researcher of the Estonian National Museum, who will talk about the completion of the books "Maack on Amuur", "Expeditions to the West-Meroomean Ancient Land" and "The Walker in the Outlands". These books are about Estonian ethnographers' expeditions to tribal peoples. The author of all the books is Indrek Jääts himself.
The permanent exhibition of the ERM Heimtal Museum and the exhibitions "From Head to Toe. From head to toe" and the outdoor exhibition "Ammu Seeded. A Master at the Master's Back". The exhibition "From head to toe. Skirts and aprons" presents many of the folk costume skirts, skirt trimmings, skirt fabric samples and aprons in the collections of the Heimtal Museum of the Hermitage Museum. The outdoor exhibition "Ammu sewn. The exhibition is a photo exhibition of folk costumes and is organised by the Estonian Folk Art and Handicrafts Association and the NGO Folk Costumes.
