Program
On Museum Night, the museum’s permanent exhibitions are open: European and Russian art from the 16th–19th centuries on the second and third floors of the palace, as well as the open storage display of the sculpture collection on the first floor. Visitors can also explore the exhibition From Restorer to Conservator, which introduces the conservation of classical paintings.
There are voices at the Kadriorg Art Museum!
The permanent exposition of the Kadriorg Art Museum presents the cream of the foreign art collection of the Art Museum of Estonia, which consists mostly of paintings, sculptures and applied art from Western Europe and Russia from the 16th to the 20th centuries. Did you know that you can explore the permanent exhibition with the help of the museum’s audio guide?
As you walk through the main hall of the Baroque palace and the exhibition galleries, you have the opportunity to delve deeper into selected works with the audio guide. By stopping in the palace vestibule, the main hall and on the second and third floors, you can learn more about the paintings, sculptures and their creators, as well as the historical context and the unique character of this architectural gem. The audio guide is available in Estonian, English, Russian and Italian, and is marked in the galleries with a white headphone symbol. To listen, select the number displayed next to the symbol.
If, however, you prefer to learn about history and art through playful conversation, choose the children’s audio guide by looking for artworks marked with a yellow headphone symbol.
Have you ever wondered what would happen if paintings and sculptures could speak? In the children’s audio guide, artworks come to life: the paintings and sculptures start talking! Travel through the museum together with a girl named Kadri and meet fascinating characters: princes, geniuses, a lady in black, mysterious animals and many others.
At each stop, a character awaits you with a cheerful, instructive or mysterious story. Kadri guides you from one adventure to the next and helps you notice details you might not have spotted before.
The audio guide is suitable for the whole family! The children’s audio guide is available in Estonian, English and Russian.
Both audio guides can be listened to using the same device, which can be borrowed free of charge from the museum.
Short tours “Conversations on Art”
In the permanent exhibition galleries, experienced museum guides welcome visitors and, at selected times, share stories connected to artworks, giving artists of past centuries or the figures depicted in their works new voices.
The short tours in Estonian take place every half hour in different museum galleries and also in the permanent exhibition space of the Mikkel Museum. More detailed guidance is available at both museums.
