About the Museum

The Nõmme Museum was founded on November 13, 1935. It operated in the premises of the current Nõmme Music School. It was closed in 1940. The Nõmme Museum was re-established in the premises of the historical Nõmme Railway Station waiting room and ticket office on February 28, 2002. The first and so far the only director of the museum was Piret Loide. Historical consultations were provided by historian Leho Lõhmus. The museum’s permanent exhibition shows the development of Nõmme as an independent city from 1926 to 1940 and also the earlier years since the founding of Nõmme by Nikolai von Glehn at the end of the 19th century.
