Program

On May 16, it is worth coming to MUHK / the Estonian Agricultural Museum with your ears wide open, because on Museum Night you can truly hear rural life come alive.
At the heart of the evening is Barn Symphony, where visitors can listen to the sounds made by farm animals and birds. Everyone can also try creating their own story from farm sounds by mixing different sounds in the Barn Symphony game.
The Barn Symphony exhibition at MUHK, the Rural Curiosity Center, explores animal welfare and helps visitors understand that a well-cared-for and happy animal can also be a vocal one. It shows how harmonious coexistence between people and animals can become something like a beautifully sounding symphony.
But animals are not the only ones making sounds. During the evening, the museum’s historic machinery will also rumble, chug, roar and hum.
Visitors can hear the gentle buzz of the original Deering, the even stronger voice of a rebuilt Deering beside it, the familiar hard-working sound of the Belarus MTZ 82 tractor, and the distinctive purr of Kirt, a homemade tractor with a Mitsubishi engine.
The open storage area will also offer a special experience. Usually marked by dim light and silence, the museum’s treasury can be discovered in a completely different way on this evening.
The voices of museum objects will come to life, giving old items a new dimension. Visitors can experience how the museum not only displays history, but also speaks.
And if one sound is certain to stay echoing in your ears by the end of the evening, it will be the pleasant rumble of the GAZ 51, as this vehicle will be taking visitors on joyful rides.
