Program

18.00–23.00 The merchant house at Vene 17 is filled with sounds!

As you step through the door, the master of the house, Hans Viant, welcomes you with his loud and confident voice, while crackling embers in the kitchen stove create a cozy atmosphere.

As you make your way upstairs, you find yourself among the cheerful company of the Brotherhood of Blackheads, who share stories of their adventures and celebrations. You will hear the members’ favorite tunes and learn directly from the real Blackheads what their lively life was like.

Standing before the altarpiece of the Virgin Mary altar, you are surrounded by solemn choral singing, whose sound fills the room and carries your thoughts on a peaceful and spiritual journey.

In the merchant apprentice’s room, it is worth falling silent for a moment — perhaps you will catch the faint sound of breathing or even a loud snore as the young apprentice enjoys a deep sleep.

22.00–23.00 Hour of Silence

How does silence sound?
At the end of an evening saturated with sounds and as a counterpoint to the Eurovision echoing across the city, Tallinn City Museum branches will turn off all sound installations during the final hour of Museum Night. This allows visitors to listen to the natural sounds of the historic buildings.

We also invite visitors to turn off their devices, speak more quietly, and be considerate of those sensitive to noise.

Accessibility information:

Due to the nature of the historic building, unfortunately it is not accessible by wheelchair. There is no elevator in the building.
