The permanent exhibitions on the 2nd and 3rd floors will also be open, where you can explore the history, layers, peculiarities and diversity of Estonian design.

Especially for this year’s Museum Night theme – “There are voices in the night!” – the innovative electron orb Retakord can be heard and seen in its own time in the project area on the 3rd floor of the museum. Produced at the Punane RET radio factory for ten years between 1965 and 1975, the Retakord was the first commercially produced multi-tone electronorel in the Soviet Union and an innovation that was to be seen throughout the Soviet Union. The organ had a total tuning range of 6 octaves per two keyboards, plus frequency and amplitude bravuraato sound effects and 9 sound registers. The organ was also equipped with a speaker and amplifier, which were produced in a total of 7,727 units.

The Estonian Museum of Applied Arts and Design is housed in a former granary, built at the end of the 17th century and renovated in 1980 to house the Museum of Applied Arts.
