Program

When was the last time you went to a museum at night?

Is the underwater world quiet? Is the saying “dumb as a post” still true?

On the night of the museum, the Estonian University of Life Sciences’ Lake Museum opens its doors at a different time than usual and invites you to discover the mysterious underwater world, where night has its own voices.

Museum open 18.00-23.00

Boat trips on Lake Võrtsjärv 17.00, 17.30, 18.00, 18.30, 19.00, 19.30, 20.00, 20.30, 21.00 (extra charge, tickets available on site).

Formula:

  • A Night of Museums quip. Lecture-conversation “Fish voices. Fish voices? Fish calls!” Arvo Tuvikene
  • Everyone can be a creator! Workshop for art lovers. Õie Holm
  • Mastery corner
  • Romantic bird walk on the shores of Lake Võrtsjärvi. Kairi Kivaste
  • In the late evening, we will all feed the fish in the lake museum. Who eats what/who eats whom? Who sleeps during the day and eats at night?

Other exciting things

  • Lake Museum’s fish collection – 35 aquariums with domestic and exotic fish species.
  • The fish listening chamber
  • Virtual reality – dive into Lake Võrtsjärvi and study the fish – are they talking to us?
  • Exhibitions, including the new exhibition “The story of the little fish”
  • Children’s play area
  • Happy Valentine’s Day
  • Café and soft ice cream

Come and listen, see and experience – maybe fish are not as dumb as they think! 🙂

  • The museum is wheelchair accessible – the 1st floor can be accessed directly from the main door, while a wheelchair lift leads to the 2nd floor.

Important info

The Lake Museum cares a lot about the environment, its visitors and the well-being of the fish collection, so we wear socks or slippers indoors. Why?
* We will keep the Lake Museum as our home and we wish it to remain beautiful for a very long time. The glass in the floor aquariums will also stay clean and clear.
* We welcome visitors of all ages – even those who can’t walk on their own. So children can run, crawl, wiggle and play in the floor aquariums and elsewhere. The museum also has a changing table.
* Clean rooms are also important for the well-being of fish, as pathogens that can harm fish can enter the floor tanks from the yard along with dust and sand.
* If you don’t want to wear a sock (we have three different sizes) you can also wear socks. Thank you!

Well-behaved pets are always welcome!
